My suggestion for measuring your neck,wrist or ankle would be to either measure a piece of jewelry that you already own that fits well, or measure a piece of string on your neck or wrist. Add about 1/2 inch to the measurement because of the thickness of the hemp, this should make it fit perfectly. When ordering pre-made stuff, remember that it's already made a certain size, so make sure you dont order a 15" necklace when you have a 19" neck. In some case I can remake it to your perfect size, just send me an e-mail and I'll let you know.

When it comes to caring for your hemp jewelry, you don't really have to. Wearing it in water softens it up and eventually gets the "worn" look, which I personally dig, but if your wanting it to look like new for a long time, I would suggest taking it off before jumping in the ocean or shower. You can soften the hemp really well the first time you wash it by putting it in your jeans pocket and running through the dryer.
